Us On The Bus History
All about us

We are the Weller family, we used to live outside the University town of Oxford.  Our children are Amy (15), Alexander (12) and Sam the youngest (9).  We also have an older daughter Caroline, 28 who will not be joining us. Brian is 57 and I (Dawn) am 43.

We lived a very busy life, we ran a catering unit from our Garden which seemed a strange place but our house was situated in a layby and therefore we had a constant supply of customers.  As if that wasn't enough we didn't use a traditional catering unit we have a marque and I cooked on a huge paella pan.  It never failed to amaze people who were expecting a van and find me.  The job was great as I spent 90% of the time talking.  It really is was more of a community atmosphere than a truck stop.  We discussed anything from the weather to politics, relationships, alternative medicine. You name it we talked about it.

Although we really liked the job we both feelt there had to be more the life than work and sleep. I suppose the moment we decided to change everything was 19th May 2006.  Our dog, Floppy was killed outside the house, she ran into the road and was hit by a car.  At this point Brian and I felt that we take so much for granted and in an instant things can change your life forever.  It may seem a bit drastic to leave your home and job and completely change your lifestyle but we felt we need to do something together as a family and for some reason it just seemed right to buy a bus.  This would allow us to travel around, have somewhere to live and be on a great adventure.
